Police arraign ex-Enugu commissioner over false allegation
Police in Enugu have arraigned former Enugu State Commissioner for Works, Transport and Special Duties, Engineer Luke Mammel at an Enugu Magistrate Court for giving false information to the law enforcement agents.
The ex-commissioner, now Director of Works at Institute of Management and Technology, IMT, Enugu is standing trial on one count charge, in charge No. CME/483C/2016 between Commissioner of Police Vs Engr. Luke Mmamel.
The charge read: “That you Engr. Luke Mmamel ,‘M,’ on the 22nd day of June, 2015, at Police Headquarters Enugu, in Enugu Magisterial District, did make false statement to the Commissioner of Police Enugu State ,an officer employed in the public service with intention to cause one Basil Offoh to be arrested and detained by the
Commissioner of Police Enugu State, which you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 154(1)a) of the Criminal Code Cap.30. Vol.II, Laws of Enugu State

Four ritualists were allegedly arrested with fresh human hearts in Ijebu
Igbo, Ogun state. The suspects Nurudeen Adeniyi, 34, Tunde Banjo, 29,
Temitope Alaba 20, and Tobi Olukoya , 20, all confessed to commiting the
crime. The suspects said their victim- a young lady, was brought from

Landlord remanded in prison for allegedly stabbing tenant to death
For allegedly stabbing his tenant to death, Gbade Metibemu is to be remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.
Metibemu, 34, was presented to face trial in a charge of murder before Magistrate K. A. Ariyo of an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos on Thursday, but his plea was not taken.
Patience Jonathan files $200 million suit against EFCC
Former First Lady, Mrs. Patience Ibifaka Jonathan, yesterday instituted a $200 million suit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at a Federal High Court in Lagos.
This followed an admission of money laundering by four firms, which she claims the anti-graft agency had used to inconvenience and embarrass her.
Mentioned as defendants in the action are Skye Bank, Waripama-Owei Emmanuel Dudafa, former Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs to her husband and erstwhile President Goodluck Jonathan, Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited, Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Limited, Transocean Property and Investment Company Limited and Globus Integrated Service Limited.
No date has, however, been fixed for hearing.

19-year-old Boy Arrested For Molesting 16 Years Old Girl At Lagos Beach
A 19-year-old man has been arrested for molesting a young girl in a
public place. The young man simply identified as Jelili Afolabi, has
been arrested and was arraigned at a Surulere Magistrates’ Court in
Lagos for allegedly r*ping a 16-year-old girl.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Anthonia Osanyade, told the court that the accused committed the offence at Konga Meji Ibeshe beach, Lagos, at about 7.30 p.m. on Aug.17. She said the accused invited his victim to a quiet part of the beach and forcefully had s*x with her.
Even though The offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2011, The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Ipaye Nwachukwu, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood-relation to the accused, and that both sureties should provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Nwachukwu Finally adjourned the case to Nov.1.

Electrician Stabs Wife’s Lover To Death In Delta
An electrician, identified as Ochuko, has allegedly killed his wife’s
lover on Emebiren Street, in the Warri South Local Government Area of
Delta State.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the incident occurred on Saturday at the residence of the lover, identified as Robinson Otuke.
Residents of the area told our correspondent that the electrician’s wife, Rose, had been having an affair with the deceased for a long time.
